Despite proper diet and exercise many women are still bothered by the presence of back rolls and folds which makes it difficult to wear the form fitting clothes that are common in today’s fashions. A new study published in the upcoming issue of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, the leading journal for the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), introduces the Bra Line Back Lift procedure—a plastic surgery procedure designed to eliminate back rolls and improve the contour and silhouette of the upper and middle back.
“This is an exciting new addition to the body contouring options available for women who want to get rid of their back rolls and improve the contour of their upper and middle back” states Dr. Remus Repta, a plastic surgeon with Advanced Aesthetic Associates in Phoenix, Arizona and co-author of the Bra Line Back Lift procedure. “It is important to remember that the skin laxity that results from sun exposure and natural aging does not improve with diet and exercise. The Bra Line Back Lift procedure can help correct this and greatly improve the contour and silhouette of the back”.
The study reports the findings of seven women who underwent the Bra Line Back Lift procedure with an average follow-up time of 22 months. To date, approximately 20 women have undergone the Bra Line Back Lift procedure. All of the cases were performed as outpatient procedures. The authors report that the average length of the procedure is about one and a half hours. Drains are not routinely used with the procedure and patients are allowed to shower the second day after surgery. The study concluded that the Bra Line Back Lift is a safe and effective procedure to eliminate back rolls and improve the contour of the upper and middle back.
“The feedback from patients has been uniformly very positive, with some even stating that it is the best procedure that they have undergone. The scar is designed to be concealed beneath the brassiere strap—most patients are more than happy to trade back rolls and folds for a scar that is well hidden in return for a smooth and inform back silhouette”.
