Fat Grafting
Fat grafting performed at our Phoenix and Scottsdale offices is designed to augment areas of volume loss that naturally occur with age. The surgeons at Advanced Aesthetic Associates are among the select few in the area with the specialized training and technology to offer this natural and highly effective facial rejuvenation option.
Facial aging inevitably involves a certain amount of volume loss, mostly in the form of youthful fat that breaks down over time. As the fat diminishes, skin begins to sag, causing wrinkles, creases and folds. Volume is typically lost in the temple area, the eyebrows and eyelids, the cheeks, the lips, and the jaw-line.
In order to achieve natural and balanced facial rejuvenation results, the lost volume must be replenished. Fat grating or fat transfer in Phoenix and Scottsdale at Advanced Aesthetic Associates is a very important component in achieving a more youthful facial appearance. Some patients may choose injectable fillers as a temporary means of restoring lost volume. Dr. Repta, Dr. Prichard, Dr. Andres, or Dr. Bajnrauh will help you to determine which approach will best achieve your goals.
Your Fat Grafting Procedure & Recovery
The process involves removing fat from areas where it is not wanted, including the abdomen, hips, and flanks, through liposuction. The fat must be harvested delicately then specifically prepared to assure that only pure, healthy fat is being re-injected into the recipient site. The viable, high-quality fat selected will be reintroduced with extreme precision to improve the effectiveness of the procedure. The process can be done under local or general anesthesia.
Since the body's own tissue is used, there is no risk of allergic reaction with fat grafting. There will be some initial swelling and bruising, but recovery from this procedure is typically quick. Some of the injected fat will be absorbed by the body, but the fat that establishes blood supply will be there forever. Occasionally, follow-up treatments or touch-ups may be necessary especially if additional volume is desired.
